We drove down to meet Eric for lunch last week. There is a quirky restaurant near his office called Stella's. The booths and tables are painted black, the wait staff is all well tatooed and pierced, the random decorations include old mixers and light up beer signs, and the wait for the food is unusually long because there is only one cook. Why would we go there with children? Because we're a bit looney these days. And because they make one of my favorite sandwiches ever, the BMT -- basil, mozarella, tomato drizzled with the best balsalmic vinegar with olive tappenade on the crusty bread -- so delicious! Doesn't that make you hungry?
Actually, the kids were great this time. Ridge was at school so maybe having one less made it easier. Sommer fell asleep and stayed asleep across my lap. Laine and Cannon enjoyed coloring. Since neither of them can read and neither of them asked what the words on the coloring page said, we didn't bother having a Word of Wisdom discussion at lunch.

Funny how you can find great food in the most unexpected places!
Glad you two had a nice lunch.
Mmm...that sammich sounds heavenly!! Now I'm hungry!!
that picture is priceless!
Reminds me of the time that Eric took his brothers, father, and sister-in-law to a "restaurant". Upon seating we were promptly asked to show i.d. and Todd looked like a deer in headlights. We had to find another fine eating establishment...
That is hilarious! I do agree that that sandwich sounds heavenly and I would definelty frequent any type of restaurant to enjoy one.
that sandwhich sounds delightful.
girls lunch?
Oh Paige, I love it! It reminds me of The Pie in SLC, kind of. Way too loud to hear yourself in, writing on the walls, etc. But I have taken the girls, and they loved it!
You go out with 3 kids to meet your husband for lunch at a crazy restuarant? You ARE amazing! And Sommer is just 3 months old. When Ella was 3 months old I was still just barely getting myself out of bed each morning. I wish I could meet my husband for lunch. What a fun idea.
that sandwich does sound good. Nice coloring project for the kids. Interesting the things that are printed these days.
That restaurant sounds like FUN! It reminded me of this place by the University District called 'Pies and Pints' You should check it out. They are old fashioned pot pies of all sorts. Yummy sweet potatoe fries too.
