Naptime

Laine only naps a couple of times a week. We make everyone rest or nap after church on Sundays and she is usually tired enough to sleep. During the week it is a different story. Usually she will sit on her bed for a few minutes but then she slides down and starts to play. I love to hear her in there, she is just so happy in her room. She will often play for an hour, happily, and then fall asleep. Sometimes she climbs back up on her bed but most of the time she falls asleep wherever she was playing in her room. Last week I found her like this:

I love this picture because it shows all the little things she likes to play. She always slides her blankets and Care Bears down with her and plays Care Bears for a while. I'll hear her singing as loud as she can, "I just want to be a Care Bear like you!" She plays with her Little People and reads her Little People books; she takes her shoes out from under her dresser and lines them up around the room. Her Dora book is out along with her Dora puppets, she loves Dora too. I just love that she is happy to play, just happy to be. That is just one of the best motherhood feelings, when your children just seem happy.

Such a cute picture. You are so lucky that she enjoys play time by herself. I am trying to get Bella to enjoy playing alone and it is a challenge. I wish I would have encouraged it more when she was younger. It seems like she just doesn't know how to entertain herself and it is probably because I was there all the time to play with her.

I love these kind of pictures, i call them a raw image, no poses, no crops, time to just be. i have pictures of chastin sleeping on the hardwood floor under the dining table, you just can't set that kind of picture up. she looks so sweet just sitting there sleeping. thanks for reminding us of how innocent and precious children can be.

I love how you explained every little thing she does, including the lining of the shoes up around the room..I like that because it makes a cute pic of a kid falling asleep come alive like I never would have seen it before.
