Family Update

Some of my dear readers know my entire family. This picture was taken this summer at the beach house and Lindsey sent it to me recently. Aren't we all so gorgeous?! Ahh to be warm and tan again! But I'm not blogging now to gripe about our weather (though you've probably seen a little blurb -- yes, it is raining in the Seattle area! Can you believe it? Acutally, there is a lot of rain, we usually just get to live in the mist for a few months, it isn't flooding at our house.) I'm posting this to update you on my family. Let's start at the bottom.

Lance is a freshman at BYU Idaho and he is having a grand old time there, as all freshmen in college should. He got a partial scholarship for his voice talents and is singing in the Men's Chorus. Yes, he has a gorgeous voice -- I heard him sing at his high school graduation in June and it was so beutiful. He sang "You Raise Me Up," a song on one of the Josh Grobin CDs.

Lindsey is in her first year of law school at UNLV. She majored in Econ at BYU and then actually found a job in Vegas doing work in economics. How rare is that? She is still the life of the party in our family, but, obviously, one smart cookie.

Kent is in his second year of law school at Chapman. I don't talk to him much, busy man. I just heard from Dad he got an externship with at federal judge in LA for next semester. Kent is still as funny and easy going as ever. And he is one handsome guy so if you know any single girls in the Orange County area...

Lark is a mother of two in Tucson and she still has great posture and a great figure. She is the ward choir director right now (like mother like daughter). Parker will be done with his MDMPH summer of 2007 (I have no idea how to abbreviate that correctly). If she lived here we could play in orchestra together.

Matt is working at Ernst and Young in San Diego. Laura is expecting their third child in December. She serves in the ward primary right now. Their oldest, Luke, is 5 and started kindergarten this year, and Katelyn is a few days from 3. Matt is an avid sports fan and is beginning to rival dad with his random sports facts knowledge. He should be singing for his supper, his voice is so great, but he puts providing for his family first.

Dad just broke his nose last week! He was playing flag football with the elders quorum and his nose connected with the elbow or knee of another player. I heard from mom that he has two of the worst black eyes you've ever seen. Of course it didn't hurt, just made him mad. The doctor was impressed that this 60-year-old patient was out playing football with the young guys. Naturally, dad is still faster than half the bunch. Other than the broken nose thing, he is still working at the adult school in Covina and serving as bishop in the Claremont II ward, again.

Mom is very busy this year, playing the piano for the choirs at the high school and at the jr. high. She is also choir director right now and helps with the activities committee. She is such a good example of service in the church. We're planning a big trip to Italy for her 60th birthday in a few years. I only say that she is turning 60 because she looks so fabulous -- when she was here in the spring more than one person said that she looked too young to be my mom and especially too young to be a grandma.

Thanks for the update! My husband Tanner (who was also good buds with Kent when we lived in Provo) and I have been wondering how everyone is doing. It is so great to see everyone doing well!
