Saturday afternoon we didn't have any plans so I got this big idea, let's walk to Burger King and the video store. I wanted all of us to get out of the house and get some exercise, I know, having Burger King be our destination isn't exactly the healthiest choice, but it is right by the video store. It is only about a 1.5 mile walk one way and we took the scenic route through Hamlin Park. When we first moved to Shoreline and went to Hamlin Park we were amazed that right in our city you could visit a forest. It was summertime, a gorgeous day, and as we were enjoying the beauty of it all we heard trumpets come from over the trees. We laughed because it described so perfectly what we were feeling. It wasn't a heavenly ensemble, it was a marching band practicing for a competition at the high school field that abuts the woods. Being able to walk to the woods is still one of our favorite things about our neighborhood. I did underestimate the amount of time it would take so we were walking in the dark for the last few blocks, but we did get out of the house, got some exercise, and enjoyed a beautiful fall day.
Just a note: Laine has the best endurance out of our kids. She loves to walk and would have walked the entire way there if we let her. When we had gone 100 yards she said, "get out" and then walked probably a mile before we made her get back in the stroller because we were on a busy road.

Wonderful pictures of a fun day! I can relate so much to "life at the Blasers"! I've been there, too, though a long time ago!
