Happy Easter!

Since St. Patrick's Day, Laine has been busy making Easter decorations for our home. She wanted to make green holiday decorations for us but since it was on St. Patrick's day that she wanted to do this I directed her into making Easter ones instead. This project has kept her busy off and on through the past 2 weeks. The above photo represents about a quarter of the work she has done; all walls of our dining room are now adorned with snippets of colorful paper. I did help her make glitterey eggs one afternoon and paper chains on another, but she likes her own way best. Our walls need new paint and a little girl needs to be busy so I'm happy to have my walls spattered like this for a few more weeks.

Baby Gumby

Isn't it delightful to find babies and children asleep in funny positions? What was she doing? Perhaps playing with her beanie doggie even though she was really sleepy and so sleep just overcame her and she conked over? Wouldn't that be lovely, to be able to just take a nap whenever you felt sleepy? Just a short rest so that you could wake up smiling and kicking your legs, ready to finish your day, or at least ready to take on the day until it was time for your next nap. The world would be a better place if we all could just take more naps, whenever we felt like it, no questions asked.
Laine has been playing a game lately that she calls "shoelaces." She goes into our closet and plays with my shoes and jewelry and makeup and lotions. (Through a pocket door our walk-in closet is to the left, straight ahead is the toilet room and to the right is the shower/vanity/sink area.) I'm not sure what she imagines as she explores my trinkets, but it looks like fun so I just let her play. I always find at least one pair of my shoes by my bathroom sink and the jewelry that she wears or plays with changes every few days. I remember looking through my mom's jewelry and perfume and scarves as a little girl and thinking it was all so beautiful. It has been sweet to remember my childhood through my daughter's eyes.

New (sale!) Shoes

I found these little jems at Target last week for $1.98! Don't you just love finding those red stickers on items and seeing that sale price! Laine was so excited to have "tap shoes" that fit her again since she grew out of her other shoes that made a clip clop noise when she walked in them. The downside was that she got blisters from them since she refused to take them off all day. The upside was all the dances she performed for us and for herself throughout the day.
And those are my wet garden gloves by her feet. I left them out a couple of weeks ago, thinking that it would stay sunny-ish and then they got snowed on and rained on and I just walk by them and shake my head and haven't picked them up since.
