A Life Well Lived

My sweet grandma died yesterday. We knew she would be leaving us soon but it is still a sad to have her gone. I am so thankful for my testimony of the gospel, of the Resurrection of the Savior, so I know that her body will be reunited with her great spirit and I will see her again after my journey on earth is through. I know my children will only vaguely remember her so I hope that I can remind them of her through traditions. We always ate the same wonderful German meat dish at Christmas, we looked forward to it all year. My version still isn't as good as hers. Every Easter she sent chocolates from Sees, she had a sweet tooth. She was so thoughtful at sending cards for birthdays and other occasions. It is so nice to get a card in the mail. My first year of college I remember getting a St. Patrick's Day card from her. To me it seems like her life was so simple and she was happy. But she was lonely and tired at the end and I am glad that she doesn't have to be those things anymore.

I'm going to drive with the kids to CA for the funeral and a little vacation since it will be Easter break. Wish me luck!

Paige,
My thoughts are with you. I know that grandmas are very special, and yours seemed wonderful! If you need anything just let us know. Your family will be in our prayers today. Best of luck on your drive to Ca. I have some new kid movies and a small dvd player if you would like to use them. (time flies when the kiddos are happy:)

So I'm not going to drive anymore. We found flights on expedia for not too much more than it would be to drive. I'll save on sanity too.

She looks adorable. Im so glad you can go to be with your family right now. One cool thing about someone getting to live such a full life is that the funerals tend to be almost happy, such a wonderful celebration and reunion for everyone to talk about the good times. Enjoy every minute of it! :)

I'm sorry that you lost your Grandma...but it's a short time until you find her again on the other side. Won't that be a wonderful reunion??

Have a safe trip!
