So let's see... Ridge had his first full day back to school today since the snow storm. Today makes 5 full days of school since December 19th when he got out for Christmas break. He missed 3 days because we were in Utah, had 2 days back then got more snow days and civil rights day and more snow days. Yesterday he had a half day and today is back to normal. As you can see, he had a lot of energy to expend but was generally a good kid. He had fun playing with his Legos.
We actually did get out to the zoo on MLK day. It wasn't snowing that day but it was cold. They have a nice indoor playground now that the kids enjoy. Of course it was crowded and I lost Laine and Cannon at different times, neither for very long but enough to make me scramble. Cannon actually went up to the worker near the front to ask him where I was and Laine was wandering around with a very worried look on her face. Many of the animals were indoors but we saw a few and went into a couple indoor exhibits.
During this snow shut-in the boys turned Laines kitchen set into rocket ships. Now she requests to play rockets too so these toys are serving two purposes thanks to imagination. The above picture reminds me of when we were little and would dump out the toy bags my mom had made and then sit in them. Kind of the same concept.
Cannon had his second day of preschool today. He was nervous and didn't want to go back. He was trying really hard to produce some tears and saying, "but I'll miss you mom." We waved to him from the school window and he waved back, giving me big, sad eyes and a frown. But no tears. When I picked him up he was happy and we walked out of the classroom, he did a little jump and said, "I had fun today!" So all is well in preschool land.
Laine and I got some grocery shopping done and went to JoAnns. When it was time to get Cannon she didn't want to go, she wanted to keep doing BooBah on PBS kids.com so I bribed her with a snack. She didn't want anything I offered until I said Doritos. But she wouldn't just take a little snack bag, she had to carry the big bag and her snack bag and they had to go with us into the classroom. No, I will not be the winner of the mother-who-gives-her-kids-the-healthiest-snacks award. At least she wasn't throwing a fit when we left preschool.
Oh, and our house got egged on Sunday night. Only 3 eggs, and only one really hit the house. Its guts are still splattered across the window because I haven't wanted to go out in the freezing cold and clean my windows. Stupid teenagers.

So glad my son has an alibi for the egging incident
Cannon's reaction to preschool is pretty typical. We have kids at our preschool who try to pull stunts like trying to cry, on their parents. It's funny for me as a teacher to see because it usually lasts two seconds and then the kids stop. I always tell parents how wonderful their kids were when they left. If crying lasts more than 15 min. and I can't calm them down, then I'll call parents. Good for you for not giving in to Cannon's woes.
