Last night I went to a Project Runway event at the Macy's downtown. It was great fun! A friend from craft night came with me and we both loved seeing the projects in person. The winning designs were on display, there was a fashion show for the INC line of fall/winter clothes, and Tim Gunn and Angela were there. Tim answered a few audience questions that were collected before the fashion show began. He was asked what his favorite design of the three seasons has been and he said Austen Scarlet's corn husk dress. He said that when he saw Austen with a cart of corn he thought, "there goes the show," but then was so amazed at the beautiful creation he came up with. Tim is such a gentleman. We weren't one of the lucky people that got to talk to him (there were about 50 people that got lucky tickets) but I watched him signing autographs (on pictures of him with Heidi) and he was so kind to everyone he talked to. He also said that Seattle has the largest metro fan base. I guess we have the right demographic here though this particular event was full of women. And I have to say that I felt sorry for Angela. This tour they are doing is to 7 cities -- I hope she gets a warmer welcome in Kansas. My pictures of her turned out blurry but she was wearing one of her signature puffy skirts in hot pink with her little rosettes on them, and a black top. But the clincher was that she was wearing black moon boots, like Napoleon Dynamite. Even though she wasn't my favorite she did get on the show over thousands of other people, so she is talented.
The models we saw weren't the superskinnywaifs that they use on the show, they were more like regular skinny people. My friend commented that the maniquins were too big for some of the dresses, like Kayne's pagent dress and the bedsheet dress by the guy that got kicked off, so that just shows you how skinny some of those girls are. I guess the ladies in our show were the plus size models, like the poor girl who helped get Allison get kicked off.
After the fashion show they served mini desserts and drinks. Macys had a "special" for all those in attendence -- buy $75 in clothes and get a Runway giftbag that had a PR shirt (the one designed by Angela) and the most recent copy of Elle. There was a vest that I just loved but couldn't afford/justify buying it for $118. And I'd rather have an Auf Wiedersehain shirt anyway. I also wanted to get a new outfit for this event but didn't (for the same reasons) and also thought, no one but me cares what I'm wearing and at least I have great jewelry.
Well now that PR and Lost are done for the season I am no longer a slave to the TV! What will I do with my Wednesday nights?!

I am so jealous that you got to attend this event. I would have loved to have gone along with you. It looked like a lot of fun. Koodos to you for staying strong and not indulging in the $118 vest.
Forget the dresses. I want your scarf!
wow, sorry i missed that. ;)
no really, i think only true fans can fully appreciate a corn-husk dress.
you do look like a tres-chic super-skinny model!
I've been sewing a lot, but I think I'll leave the corn-husk experience to others!
(Sorry about the deleted comment--I'm sort of experimenting with my computer and options!)
