just our day

Tonight we went to the temple. Our babysitter was a girl from our ward, smart girl, very organized and on top of things, but also very small. We figured that she would do a great job as long as she didn't have to lift Cannon, I think he weighs more than half what she does. (He likes to be weighed -- he says "mom, let's see how much I am today." 45 lbs.) Our session ran long so we arrived home at 10:30. The sitter was asleep on the couch with the TV on. We came in and turned on the light and she couldn't open her eyes. I felt so bad for keeping this little 12-year-old out on a school night. But blessings all around, right? And all went well while we were gone, the boys didn't wrestle her down and tie her up so they could watch a show until we got home, I'm happy.

Ridge school report: He didn't cry when we had to go to the bus this morning -- that doesn't mean he was all smiles as the bus drove away but no tears is a step in the right direction. He has a friend now, Daniel, whose real name is Sam, and they already have little jokes. His story about Daniel's real name (Daniel is the "pretend" name) reminds me of when Kent was in kindergarten and telling us about his kindergarten friends, Rocky Rhodes and Bert and Ernie. I think Rocky was real but his last name wasn't Rhodes and Ernie was real but Bert was made up. But we all believed him. Should we have known then that he would go into law?
