Successful Heimlich

On Sunday Laine called from the kitchen, "Mom! Dad needs your help." I ran from my room to find that Eric was making this horrible gasping, wheezing noise. He was standing in the entryway trying to get his breath back, still having trouble. I thought he motioned for me to wait, that he was going to be okay, but he couldn't even cough out a noise, just that horrible, loud gasp. So I wrapped my arms around his gut and shoved my locked-together hands underneath his sternum. The gulp of water that was lodged in the wrong place splurted out of his mouth and landed at our feet. And he could breathe again. And then I got kind of mad at him for scaring me so bad and I had to go back upstairs and sit down while I stopped shaking. But thankfully, he was okay and the Heimlick maneuver actually worked, even though Eric is almost a foot taller than me and twice my weight.

How scary! But how awesome that you were able to save him! You really are a hero :)

Way to go Paige! Isn't amazing what we can do when adrenaline is pumping through our veins. I'm so glad to hear Eric is ok.

That made me laugh!! I can see it now-everything from you wrapping your arms around him to you going upstairs to regain composer. It's not funny to be chocking but it was funny how you wrote it.
