holiday photo 2011

Let me just say that I totally aspire to planning way in advance for the Christmas card photo, or any family photo for that matter. I want to invite the photographer to that perfect field and we'll arrive color-coordinated and with hair combed and we'll bring a giant overstuffed couch as a prop. I just saw a fb friend's photo with a big red couch in a golden field. I think they were wearing shades of blue. It was a lovely picture.

Our Chirstmas card photo is really great for the circumstances. It was taken in California right after my niece's baptism (a lovely occasion). The baptism was on a Saturday afternoon. The boys thought they were done with pictures, we had just taken a group shot, and they were running to the car, undressing from their dress clothes on the way. We had to make them put their shirts back on. Combing hair for the day was too much to ask, church clothes on a Saturday was quite enough. I hadn't showered and my hair shows. I'm amazed that we look like we tried to match. The boys are wearing their only church clothes but the girls have lots of dresses they could have brought. We pulled everything out of suitcases and changed at the church. And no one is crying. That is a miracle. My brother took the photo for us with his super-nice camera. (He took a photography class this semester, link is to his photo blog. I asked him to fix up the photo, give me a tiara at least, but he has a social life.)

I enjoyed getting your family's photo card in the mail. You all look so nice that it doesn't even look like a picture you guys barely put together. Great job!

I just linked to Lance's blog- WOW. His pictures are amazing. Seems like he could have thrown a tiara in there easily enough. :)
