There's 67 days of summer vacation...

...and school came along just to end it yesterday. The kids were nervous, Laine more excited than nervous, to start school yesterday. They didn't even complain that their summer got cut short. I think we were all ready for some routine in our lives.
These pictures were taken on our front sidewalk. Sidewalk! Hooray! We didn't have sidewalk at our house. Kind of cool to go from the forest to the mountains. Though that does mean that our house is up a hill, quite a hike back from the bus stop. The wagon got very heavy this morning. Laine is petrified of snakes since her new friend told her she needs to watch out for them. Eric tried to reassure her that there aren't snakes, at least not many, that he only saw one during his growing up years, then the boys saw a snake that week at pack meeting. She doesn't really believe her dad yet.
There's only one bus to the school for all the kids who live on our side of the busy road, which is good because Ridge was very worried that he'd get on the wrong bus after school. There wasn't any bus paperwork so we didn't know until the morning when we asked a neighbor that there was only one bus. The boys got out to the bus line after school and noticed that Laine wasn't there. They did a frantic search for her only to find out that she was already on the bus. Laine was just trying to be where she was supposed to be, the boys were mad that she didn't wait for them and that they worried for nothing, I was happy that they were being big brotherly and actually helping her, they give her such a hard time. Ridge calls her "Lainerton." Perhaps with affection? Cannon made up rhyme so this won't happen again. "Don't get on the bus until you see us."

New kids on the block sticking together.

Moving re-enforces the importance of siblings being friends. I am glad Laine has two big brothers looking out for her!

This is why I wish I had had an older brother so I'd have someone to look out for me growing up. Too cute of them! Laine's a lucky girl.

Gorgeous family! You look SOOO put together! My kids walk around looking like rags these days. :-( Is Cannon officially taller than Ridge??? I HOPE you can come out for Conference or Thanksgiving/Kate's baptism b/c it's been a whole year since we've seen you and your kids are growing up fast!
