First time fountain

For the first time since living here I took the kids to the Seattle Center with the sole purpose of playing in the fountain. We've often walked by, seen others splashing, but never made the trip in our bathing suits. Not that the weather often warrants a trip downtown dressed like that. I chose to wear my skirt, intending to get my feet wet with Sommer.

It isn't really possible to just get your feet wet. You either get drenched or you don't. The fountain water is "choreographed" to music and spurts out gallons of water from each hole. Sommer was kind of petrified and it took a lot of convincing to get her close enough to be splashed a little. When I wasn't looking a huge gush of water nailed me on my left side. The song was "evenflow." But it was a hot day, for Seattle, and though I didn't dry off completely until at home later in the afternoon, I did get a good laugh at myself and the boys thought it was pretty funny. Sommer kind of laughed but she didn't get close to the water again.

Speaking of the boys, they loved it. But at the end of our time Ridge commented, "I think I drank a gallon of water today." Really? "It tasted really fresh mom." Still. I did read that it is 3x highly filtered and no on is sick yet...

I didn't get any close up photos of Laine. She took the camera for a while so half the photos get her credit. I love the artistic lone golden sandal shot.

We've commented many times that we want to go, but like you, never get down there in suits and we are running out of good weather :). Glad to see it was fun! Laine is a natural with the camera.

Oh I wish we had that fountain in our back yard. I love the fountains around Portland. Good, free fun! What's with the bales of hays? Looks like a mini maze.

What a fun looking fountain. It would be something fun to do someday.

That is quite the fountain! No kidding about it being all or nothing. Glad you had a new fun adventure right before school started.
