How to save $1000

When the guys at Les Schwab call and tell you that it is going to cost $1200 to replace the brakes and roters (sp?) on your husband's truck it is kind of a sickening feeling. Especially when your husband has waited as long as possible, and then some, to take his truck in to be inspected.

We didn't have that much to spend so Eric put on his mechanic's hat and did it himself. Finding out that $600 of that $1200 was labor was a good motivating factor as well. First he bought the book about his beloved vehicle and then proceeded to dismantle the breaks on his own. He's showing me here that it was metal on metal, that's why it was making that horrible noise. Whose prayers for safety were answered this month?

It took him several hours but by mid-afternoon he was done. And that's how you save $1000.

Sommer tried to help. The air compressor was too loud.
