making them go to the beach

Friday after school I packed up the kids for a beach afternoon. I did this last week too, wanting to take advantage of the sunshine, but this week more to give Eric some time to rest since he was home sick. Laine and Sommer were happy about it. Ridge was quite upset that I was taking away his precious Wii time that starts on Friday after school.

We saw a train with 98 cars. That cheered Ridge's mood a bit.

Last week the boys explored together and pretended together but Ridge was in no such mood this week. He spent the majority of his time digging a huge hole and we left him alone. Once the hole was built he sat in it a while and dug some more. Later Cannon and the girls took over residency of the pit.

Ridge dug away his bad mood and ended the day splashing in the freezing water and chasing the kids with seaweed.

His mischief face reminded me so much of Calivn from Calvin and Hobbes. He was in a good mood by the time we left, especially since we were stopping at Little Caesars on the way home for Friday night pizza.

Cannon led the girls in a drum circle, putting Ridge's pit to good use. They brought their instruments home.

I love these two posts! Yesterday, I MADE THE KIDS GO TO THE AQUARIUM. Ethan whined the whole time becauase all he wanted to do was go to Wal-Mart to spend his birthday money or go home and play his new Wii game that he got. Never mind that he was out of school for the day! But, by the end, he said, "That was fun"- my questions was "For who?" :)

Looks like you are enjoying the good weather, though! We really should get together sometime. We've had company every weekend in April and two weekends in May, Ethan's b-day this weekend and then more company June 9-15. Maybe when school gets out? You look awesome and your kids are growing so FAST! Hope Eric feels better soon!

Wow you have great photographers in your family. I loved reading both posts.

One of the hardest things about doing stuff as a family, is pleasing everyone. Sometimes you just have to drag them out the door and make them come with you. I know because I grew up with 5 siblings.

I love how kids get fascinated by trains. Did you guys get the train to honk at you? My brother Ben loved trains when he was little, but not so much today.

I think the drum circle was my favorite thing that I have seen/read all week! Good thing Ridge was irritated enough to dig a pit that large to accommodate the drummers. ;) Looks like everyone ended up having a fun day. You are such a great mom!

Keep it up, mom! You're doing all the right things--once you've got some sunshine, make them enjoy it! They'll be glad you did! I love your kids! Hope Eric is getting better.

Lainey looks so grown up and beautiful! But again I can't see the video--wonder why?
