9

Ridge turned 9! Just a few days before his birthday I took a picture of him at the piano, thinking that I needed to document him practicing with his cast on. The dr said that he looked healed but he needed to wear a cast for 2 more weeks, he'll get it off for Halloween and then he'll get to play in his last 3 soccer games. What a season.

He's been looking forward to his birthday for a month and a couple of weeks ago he started telling me how he wanted his birthday cake to look. He had it all planned out in his head. After a lengthy description I asked him to write it out for me so I could remember all the things I needed to get at the store.

He produced this little document for me. Side view and top views included along with the ingredient list. On Sunday Ridge and I baked everything and then he and Eric put it all together. Eric saw the plans and thought it looked so cool that he wanted to help Ridge "build" it.

Ridge knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday, he made it really on me. I told him the birthday present budget and he went online to research. He made me a chart with the price, set name, and who each present was to be from. I did take the liberty of having the girls surprise him with the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book instead.

It was a great day to turn 9!

I love it. The cake plans, the researched gift list, all of it. Ridge is my kind of kid. Glad he had a nice day.

I love love love the "blue print" of the cake. Wow, he is such an engineer... I can't wait to see what he is going to achieve in his bright future! I also love that Eric was excited to "build" his cake.

Happy Birthday, Ridge! I think you may have a future architect or engineer in your midst, Paige. :)

What a cool cake! Like Shannon, I think Eric better realize he may have an architect in the family- that cake involved alot of DESIGN elements. What fun to help him create his cake.
