Paid my dues

It helps so much to have something to run for, a reason to train. Yesterday I paid Kent $xx so I can run in another 24-hour relay April. I haven't run since August, pathetic. I did need new shoes and I was planning on going to a specialty running store to have them watch me run and find the perfect shoes for my gait and my feet but that never happened. My shoes were leaving me with small joint pain in my knees and I knew it would get worse to run on them more so I just stopped.

But paying money and new shoes sure have helped me get back outside again. That, and I'm worried that they're going to give me the hardest legs of the relay. I just bought shoes at the Big5 sale this week. The thought of getting up early to run in the cold has given me another excuse to stay in bed these past few months, but running in the cold after the kids are in bed hasn't seemed so awful so I've started again. Square 1 this year isn't half so bad, so hard, as square 1 last year.

I'm running the Los Angeles Ragnar and half of the members of the team are my relations! My brother, Matthew, Kent and Nellie, sister Lindsey and my cousin's husband. Should be as fun as running three legs of a relay at all hours of the day , and night, can be.

how did you know we already assigned you the 18.1 mile leg? i knew from growing up with you that if i were to ask the team who wanted to run that leg, no one would have said anything and you eventually would have volunteered. so instead of asking i just assigned it to you since it was inevitable that you would get it...

Ahh, Santa Barbara huh? Sounds nice, much nicer that Logan or Park City. I have been dragging my heels about commiting to the Ragnar here. I don't think I would be so apprehensive if I was doing the LA one.
Sounds like you will have a great time being with family. Enjoy!

Kent -- you really already assigned the relay legs? I didn't even get a chance to see what they are! Or are you joking. Because if there is a seasoned runner that really wants to do it then they should. And if you aren't joking then I have a ton of running to get in before April.

Mindy -- If they needed another girl for the team I had already volunteered you! But they already had it filled. We really should run one together.
