Happy to be 3

Yesterday we celebrated Laine's 3rd birthday and it was a happy day. Laine has become quite the girl this past year, loves everything pink and pretty. I bought her a new skirt, tights and "glass slippers" (pink glitter shoes to replace her red ones that she still likes to wear though they are a size too small and pinch her feet) and a pink tiara to wear on her special day. One of her favorite library books of late has been Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy so I took Laine, Cannon and Shilo to the mall to make posh puppies of their own at Libby Lu -- the girliest of girl stores. We first stopped at the bookstore to read, and then purchase our own copy of Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy.
Cannon was really excited to be included in this adventure and the three of them had fun together. After the Libby Lu excitement we headed over to the mall playland for a bit. When they got hungry we went to Cold Stone for treats.

A lady in the playland gave Cannon a soda. She was watching me with the kids and asked if they were all mine (I had Sommer with me). I explained that I do have 4 but Shilo wasn't mine. At this point I was trying to get shoes on everyone again, Laine was starting to cry and Sommer was waking up from her short nap. It was funny to have someone pull a soda out of their bag and offer it to my kids. Cannon was delighted and he and Shilo shared it while they had their ice cream.

After that morning of birthday excitement, Laine conked out on her floor for 2 hours. She fell asleep listening to Sing and Dance Pinky Pie, her gift from Shilo. When she woke up her cheeks were flushed and pink. I thought she was sick but she wasn't feverish at all and she is back to her normal pallor today. I'm not sure what caused it but it was appropriate for the day that we had, lots of pink all around.

This morning as we were eating breakfast she asked,

"mom, am I still 3?"

When I told her that she was indeed, still 3 years old, she proceeded to list all of her body parts and say that they too, were still 3. It was sweet. She is opinionated and can be stubborn but overall she is such a delightful girl, happy to play and dance and sing, and we just love her so much.

HOW FUN! My E came in just now and her face lit up...that kind of thing is right up her alley. Her gramma got her "Fancy Nancy & the Posh Pooch" for Christmas, along with another that, given Laine's pink-ness after her nap, I have to also recommend. It's called, "Pinkalicious" and must be read by all little girls who love pink!
