Old-Fashioned Way

This year I was determined to get our Christmas cards out by the first week of December. I failed. We did take our pictures in early November (thank you Torrie for the photo shoot), but then I couldn't get the rest of the plan together. Once I saw the photos I had a couple of ideas on how I wanted to do a card but I didn't have the computer program or know-how to actually get it done. Then I was sick for a while and didn't think about cards or anything extra. Then I was going to do a postcard or notecard option through Costco because I could write a little update and the blog url and names and ages, but you have to get them through mail-order and I didn't have enough time and I didn't want to spend the extra money on postage, it just wasn't worth it at that point. And I was going to get the regular photo cards but I couldn't fit everything on the lines/spaces alloted. So I decided I would just get real cards and paste our picture inside of them. The plan was that I would print a message from us instead of writing everything out, and print the address labels. Well. Even that wouldn't work. I got new black ink for our printer but it still wouldn't print a thing. This was one week before Christmas so I decided I'd just write them out the old-fashioned way. And I decided that the picture was just going to be thrown in the card, no extra steps. I knew I had about 3 hours before Sommer woke up so I got busy and got those cards done. I didn't write anything really special to anyone and my handwriting didn't look very nice.

The good thing about writing out the names on my own was that I thought about those people and families to whom I was writing and I had a chance to be grateful for these friends and loved ones who have so blessed our lives. So thank you friends and family, you are loved.

And since you are here, reading the blog, you might care enough to see pictures of us. Some of our favorites are posted above. Thanks for reading. Have a great day.

Oh, it is so good to know I'm not alone! I have a friend who sends out her cards in the summer, and I think she's on to something. That, or I think next year, I might try to do something via email/blog/e-card. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE receiving cards (esp if there's a pic!) but ugh, what a drain on my time and energy to get ours out. I'm still working on them, in fact! I just need to get my kids helping, yeah, that would be sooo much easier... ha!

Anyway, your family pic was so cute and I'm even more honored to have received one now! ;) Merry Christmas!!!
